7 Easy Pinterest Alternatives to Inspire Your Next Remodel
Pinterest is great for design inspiration but not when you’re looking for something truly unique. If you’re looking for Pinterest alternatives that will give you unique or off-the-charts design ideas, here are some resources to inspire you:
#1 Physical Books
I’m a sucker for a good book. I think it goes back to the days when the Book Mobile would come around to rural neighborhoods, and I would check out 2-3 books, devouring them long before the Book Mobile made its next round.
I recently received a book from author Sandra Espinet. Her book, Barefoot Luxury, is all about de-stressing your life and living with beauty and simplicity. Every page is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend reading this one (or just turning the pages – it will make you weak at the knees).
#3 Shelter Magazines
If you’re into urban style, Metropolis Magazine will definitely inspire you. It features game-changing design ideas and emerging trends in architecture.
Another favorite of mine is an old standby that has literally been around for generations – House Beautiful. The colorful pages always cheer me up whenever the creative juices run dry. If you don’t have a subscription, you can pick one up at the grocery store and rip out the pages that inspire you (I do this all the time – it’s ok).
#4 Showcase Houses
I’ve been on several tours this year and was inspired by each one. You can read about it here. Google “Showcase Houses” in your city and / state to find a Showcase House Tour near you.
#5 dwellinggawker
Occasionally I’ll hop on dwellinggawker to find inspiration. The nice thing about this search engine is architect and designer bloggers must submit their articles for review before they are allowed to be posted. This means only high quality images and blogs are shown, and you don’t have to weed through them.
#6 Instagram
My Instagram Page is a great source of inspiration for thousands of homeowners, including you! Go check out my feed and leave a comment. I’d love to meet you!
#7 Design Newsletters
If you really want to get deep into inspiration, be sure to subscribe to my newsletter. This is where I talk about exclusive tips and tricks for only those on my VIP list (it comes out bi-monthly and includes links to all my blog posts so you’ll never miss one again). Click here to join.
