Tom and Maureen had lived in their Tuscan-style home for 25 years. With the kids grown, they were ready to update it for how they actually live now: Maureen cooking elaborate Italian dinners, Tom collecting wine. The house remodel covered the kitchen, family room, and powder room, built by Adkins Construction.
Same footprint, smarter layout. We repositioned the island to fix the flow and moved the wall ovens off the range wall to free up cooking space. Shaker cabinets in our signature Linen run to the ceiling, with glass uppers displaying Maureen’s pottery, contrasted by an ash wood island. Quartz counters with a matching backsplash, Hudson Valley pendants, and a Wolf range finish it. We feathered new boards into the existing hardwood and refinished everything lighter to eliminate the orange.
The old bookcases dwarfed a modest fireplace, so we flipped the equation: a new gas fireplace wrapped in large-format tile, base cabinets retrofitted with metal screen doors, and a walk-up bar with an ice maker. Custom upholstered furniture throughout, including Tom’s one request, a leather recliner that doesn’t look like one.
This was a full bath, but Tom and Maureen never used the shower. So we traded it for a custom glass wine room. The remaining powder room got a James Martin vanity with a chunky quartz top and lively floral wallpaper.
