House Tour: Glamorous & Functional Luxury Bathroom
When we started working with our clients, a married couple with decisive interior style, we knew the project would be one for the ‘gram. She wanted glitz and glamour, and he wanted functionality – our favorite things to design! Melding the different objectives was easy as we took their 15 year old beige-and-square-tile bathroom from blah to beautiful.
Luxury Bathroom Design Elements
We added jaw-dropping glitz with ribbons of mother pearl swirled amongst a backsplash of clean white Thassos marble tiles.
The intricate tile pattern in the accent wall going from counter to ceiling over the double vanity raises the glamour level to new heights.
We also incorporated gleaming chrome wall sconces and a crystal chandelier to give the space a “palace” aesthetic. Traditional cabinetry in a soft taupe hue modernizes the space, while sweet little glass and chrome knobs continue the glitz.
Because the husband was frustrated with low light levels in this master bath, we also added lighted and mirrored medicine cabinets.
He hated the small floor tile and all the ugly brown grout, too. (We really can’t blame him – ugh!) We swapped out the old flooring with large format porcelain tile and tight grout lines. Talk about fresh!
Because the husband also wanted a better, more usable shower, we designed a neat and tidy quartz shower (note the subtle gold veining!) with glass half walls, a glass door, and easy walk-in capability.
To keep their bathroom counter tops clean and clutter free, we also added a tall linen cabinet, pull-out vanity organizers, and ample shower niches.
To delight the wife, we also incorporated heated floors and a towel warmer, creating the perfect spa experience just steps from her bedroom.
