When we first walked into this home, we were greeted by a sea of gray walls and bland colors. Our clients, a creative couple with a love for bold art and design, knew they wanted to transform their space into something that truly reflects their personalities. Inspired by their exquisite and tasteful existing artwork, we were excited to take on the challenge and create a modern and cozy oasis for them to come home to. Be ready to be inspired by the stunning transformation of the Art Attack project.
Bringing Warmth and Color to the Living Room
The living room was the main focus of our project. With its dark and dull atmosphere, it needed a major update to truly become the heart of the home. We started with a fresh coat of paint to brighten the rooms. Our clients had recently purchased a pair of matching leather sofas. We started by adding pops of color pulled from their modern artwork through brass vases, trays, stone cocktail table (it pivots!) and a vibrant wool area rug that tied all the elements together. The terracotta silk cornice accentuated the neutral walls over the slider wall of windows, giving more weight to the space while perfectly complementing the colors in the artwork and rug. Additionally, we installed roller shades behind the cornice for privacy at night.
Add Curves to a Square Dining Room
Moving on to the dining room, we created a cohesive feel by incorporating the colors from the adjacent living room. An existing modern artwork piece perfectly tied in with the blue hues through glass vases on the table after it was moved to this space. A new area rug in the same hues, added warmth while also tying in with the dark cabinetry in the home. The dining table itself is a beautiful piece, featuring natural cathedral ash patterns and unique legs that allow for comfortable seating. To complete the look, curved back dining chairs with brass sabots added a touch of sophistication.
The Bedroom Becomes a Dreamy Retreat
With its tall ceilings, this bedroom needed furnishings that filled the volume while still maintaining a sophisticated feel. We chose classic black, bronze, and white tones with pops of blue-green colors for the bedding and accents. A custom 7-foot upholstered headboard was added to anchor the bed, along with luxurious white pleated drapery panels that reached from floor to ceiling. Roman shades in a calming blue color were installed on all windows for privacy and to help the couple sleep late on weekends. The nightstands, chest, and dresser by Theodore Alexander added a touch of dark rubbed bronze and reeded details, while low maintenance ZZ plants brought nature into the space. A new beautiful abstract mountain artwork piece hung adjacent to the bed, adds a sense of adventure and depth to the room.
Powder Room get a Stunning Transformation
The clients’ existing powder room lacked scale and appeal for guests, so we gave it a complete overhaul. Dark green and black geometric wallpaper set the mood, while a caramel leather and gold mirror added contrast. An abstract ceiling mount chandelier brought an artisan feel to the space, perfectly complementing the brass plumbing fixtures and caramel leather mirror. We also kept the existing toilet and pedestal sink, but added a new gold widespread faucet and toilet accessories to tie in with the overall design. The final touch was adding an abstract artwork above the toilet, completing the modern and sophisticated look of this powder room.
